Spring

Spring is finally here. We’ve had a few days of sunny warm weather, though it’s turned a little chilly and rainy of late. Sunday should be a great day to be outside and take some photos of the reawakening of plant life.

Travel

Flying to Salt Lake City today, via JFK airport in New York.  This will be my first time even SEEING New York City; I’m very excited.  Image

Turning 38

Tomorrow I turn 38.  That is twenty years out of high school.  I have it on good authority that there will be at 20-year reunion, that I believe I will attend.  Hanging out with people from high school after you’re grown, comfortable with your success and failures, should be enjoyable.  Also, in April, some former cast members from Grease, the musical we did in high school our senior year, will be going back to Potosi High School to watch the 2012 production of Grease.  This should be a lot of fun.  I didn’t have an acting part, but I played the piano in the band with our band teachers and a few other students.  It was PHENOMENAL fun.  I’m looking forward to that.

Thirty-eight isn’t a milestone birthday, but it does make one stop and evaluate your life.  I’ve never been one to measure success by degrees, job titles, money, cars or homes.  I live in a humble apartment, my car is nothing special, and I don’t have a college degree.  But I have a good job where I can have an outlet for my creativity (writing), be around technology all day, and still do the thing that I will always love: interpret.  So all-in-all, I’m a pretty fortunate human being.  And I have the company of great friends, and a great guy.  Dan and I have the healthiest relationship I’ve ever been in.  We come together to spend time with one another, but have our own space as well.  We do not try to control one another.  It’s quite wonderful, really.  And if it took me twenty years to find that, then well…it was completely worth it.Image

Weekend Update

This weekend is likely one of the last this year that we’ll experience beautiful and amazing weather. It’s supposed to be in the low 80s and sunny. In fact, there is no rain in the foreseeable forecast (at least from my iPhone). Tonight we’re cooking out at Dan’s, getting to use the bar he built. And at some point, we’re going to either go walk at Antrim or go for a nice bike ride.

And speaking of iPhone, they announced iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S. I’m pretty sure I won’t upgrade to the new iPhone. It has a slightly better camera than my iPhone 4, and will have SIri, the digital assistant. But at this point I don’t feel I need to upgrade until a 4G LTE iPhone is available.

I did download the Gold Master of iOS 5 on my iPad and iPhone, and it is really nice. It feels Android-ish, with the Notification Center and unobtrusive notifications. But it’s very stable and makes my love my phone all over again.
